Responsible AI Use Policy

The Diet Science Pty Limited (Australia) Last updated: 19/03/2026 Contact: thedietscience01@gmail.com

1) Purpose

This Responsible AI Use Policy explains how we use AI in The Diet Science, what users can expect, and the standards we follow to keep the experience safe, respectful, and helpful.

Our goal is simple: use AI to deliver practical, evidence-informed nutrition support—without overstepping into medical diagnosis or unsafe guidance.

2) What our AI does (and does not do)

What the AI can do

Our AI can help you with:

general nutrition education and food guidance

meal ideas and meal planning support

habit-building and routine suggestions

guidance aligned with trusted nutrition frameworks (including Australian dietary principles)

general calorie or portion estimates (where available)

interpreting your preferences (veg/non-veg, allergies/intolerances you share) and goals

What the AI does not do

Our AI does not:

diagnose or treat medical conditions

replace your GP, dietitian, or other clinicians

provide emergency assistance

instruct you to start/stop medications or change prescribed treatment plans

guarantee results

If you need medical nutrition therapy, clinical care, or urgent support, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional.

3) Human support and escalation

Where available, we offer 1:1 consultations with a nutritionist. If we identify that your situation may require clinical care (for example high-risk conditions or red flags), we may recommend you seek support from a GP and/or an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) or other appropriate clinician.

4) Accuracy and limitations

AI can sometimes be incorrect, incomplete, or misunderstand context. This can happen especially when:

information is missing or unclear

there are complex medical conditions

there are multiple medications/supplements involved

symptoms are severe or persistent

You agree to use AI guidance with judgment and to verify important details, especially when allergies, medical conditions, or medication interactions could be involved.

5) Safety rules (what the AI will refuse or limit)

To protect users, our AI is designed to refuse or limit responses that involve:

medical diagnosis or treatment instructions

dangerous dieting behaviours (extreme restriction, eating disorder behaviours)

self-harm content

illegal activities

hate, harassment, or abusive content

instructions that could cause physical harm

unsafe supplement/drug advice, including “replace medicine with X”

instructions for children/teens under 18 without appropriate supervision

If the AI can’t safely answer, it will suggest safer alternatives or recommend speaking with an appropriate professional.

6) Nutrition claims and evidence standards

We aim to provide guidance that is:

practical and evidence-informed

consistent with reputable nutrition principles and generally accepted dietary guidance

focused on sustainable habits rather than quick fixes

We avoid sensational claims. However, because nutrition science evolves and individual situations vary, our guidance may not always be perfect or up to date. We encourage users to consider guidance as support, not absolute truth.

7) Personal data, transcripts, and privacy

To provide continuity and improve service quality, we may store:

chat logs

meal logs and photos (if you upload them)

call transcripts (text transcripts of calls)

We do not record call audio, but calls may be transcribed into text.

Users can request deletion of transcripts and meal photos (and other user-submitted content) as described in our Privacy Policy, noting we may retain certain billing or legal records where required.

8) Fair use and misuse prevention

To keep the service available and affordable:

plans may include usage limits (for example, a set number of calls per billing cycle)

call allocations reset each billing cycle and generally do not roll over unless stated

we may restrict access if we detect abuse, account sharing, automated use, fraud, or activity that harms the service for others

9) User responsibilities

When using our AI features, you agree to:

provide truthful and relevant information

avoid sharing sensitive information you do not want stored (for example, highly personal identifiers)

not rely on the AI for emergency decisions

seek professional medical advice when needed

follow the acceptable use rules (no harassment, hate, illegal content, or misuse)

10) Updates to this policy

We may update this Responsible AI Use Policy as our technology and services evolve. We will post the updated version on our Platform and update the “Last updated” date.
